Now, let me show you a picture from the Looney Tunes section of GEORGE's website:
(Yes, this IS their whole line-up. Makes me feel old that stuff I bought brand new in shop has already been retired and is now no longer available! Yikes!)
Notice something? Yeah, it's all monochrome. I've never really understood the minimalistic parent aesthetic, but I don't judge. I do think a baby should be around bright colours and stimulating images. I know newborns need high contrasting colours like black and white instead, that's fine, but let me point out how these colours fade together. They're all grey, no contrast.
To put this in a bit of comparison, I got a Baby Looney Tunes sleepsuit today from eBay, from GEORGE's old sets. It's simple, blue and white, but the decals of Sylvester and Taz are solid black against pure white, and are high contrast. This is good for baby eyes! This washed out grey, that's not appealing for any baby! I will never understand the minimalistic parent designs.
But I cannot whine about the design alone, it's got a Baby Taz on it so I'm happy. Let's look at other stuff:
This is one of the few items I can talk about cost for, as I bought this brand new in shops. When thrifting, I have no idea unless the tag AND the price label are still attached (very rare). This shirt costs £3, and I feel that is very good value considering it's a high quality shirt and is branded.
The fabric is 100% cotton, and it feels very soft and comfortable. The shirt has a small highlight of green around the neck, and two strong clasps around the neck. The picture of Taz is printed on. Also, the back of the shirt has another picture of Taz printed, which surprised me when I bought it!
I think, for £3, it's a very high quality shirt. I just wish GEORGE would quit this monochrome nonsense and go back to bright, stimulating colours again!
Another thing to mention about the shirt, is that it works very well with the other sets. I've complained on the GEORGE website about how the Dungarees set has a plain bodysuit with no decals on it at all, well, this shirt can be swapped into this set or any other set. That IS because of the monochrome that's universal with this new set. However, it gives you more Looney Tunes options for your child's outfit, and also can be a backup shirt if they get their outfit's one messy.
So it's a nice shirt and I would reccomend it. Begrudgingly, but I still reccomend it!
A collector must collect, and I must learn to stop voicing my disapprovals at the poor staff of the GEORGE website! Sorry guys, I just really wish you'd stop retiring the colourful clothes!
ADDENDUM: Since this review, I have learnt how to date the items from GEORGE. This shirt was produced in 2018, and you can find this out from the (S18) on the tag.
